Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent 912 Coupe originally finished in good factory colors of Irish green with black trim.

This car was recently purchased from Texas where it had been in storage for almost the past 30 years. As a result the body, underpan, and interior trim are well-preserved and is largely solid and rustfree, making it an excellent base for a straightforward and easy restoration.

The bodywork on this car is very good. All of the panels open and close well. The doors just click shut. The bodywork overall is nice and straight with no accidents or damage apparent. There’s only a few spots of localized rust showing on the lower rockers and one front fender, that could be easily repaired/corrected. Further investigation shows a very solid floorpan. There is some typical minor rust up front in the battery area. Glass all around looks very good, as well as the lights, lenses, bumpers, body trim, etc.

The car’s interior appears very decent and original overall. There’s so many nice and original pieces throughout that I would say it could use some repairs and partial replacement of items, rather than a complete removal and replacement. The rear seat area with carpets and rear shelf look excellent. The headliner is very good and could use a simple redyeing back to off-white. The dashboard top needs replacement, as it’s warped by now. The door panels could use some repair. The passenger seat is actually in pretty mint condition with the driver’s seat not too far off. Carpets could be renewed up front. A few additions and repairs would work wonders with this very nice original upholstery…

The car is supplied with a pictured disassembled 912 engine (#754650) with two crankshafts. Also supplied is a transmission, starter, and axles. These would require a rebuild of course. A carb set would also need to be purchased, but the intake manifolds are there.

Overall, a project 912 with great integrity, a very straight and solid candidate for easy restoration. This 912 has been tucked away in the storage for the past 30 years in Texas and is now ready for a fairly straightforward restoration.
